Ladies Are Not Born, They Are Made

posted 11 Sep 2015, 04:05 by Hannah Tsp

Being a woman does not automatically make one a lady.

The quicker we understand this, the less hard we would be on ourselves when we make mistakes or etiquette boo-boos.

They key to understanding and learning to become a lady is this: Learn through reading, understanding, imitation, acting and get over your blunders as soon as possible.

Many women tell me they often feel fake, unnatural when they try to develop ladylike behaviour. Their friends are also unused to them, commenting that they have become too formal.

When change happens, you will feel like everything is thrown off balance. You feel uncertain, may feel nervous and wobbly. That is simply the process of finding new balance. Tweak it, adjust and you will find the right balance as you change sooner than you think.

Little Women Coming of Age

posted 16 Mar 2015, 21:46 by Hannah Tsp   [ updated 8 Apr 2015, 06:35 ]

Our coming of age camp has finally arrived!

Miss Teaspoon is launching our very own coming of age camp called Little Women. The first of its kind in Malaysia, the camp celebrates the transition of girlhood to womanhood, helping young girls enter adolescence with strength and self-confidence.

Named after Louisa May Alcott's book, Little Women explores the coming of age that performs a role similar to that of a rite of passage. It prepares girls through understanding bodily changes, exploring taboo topics on puberty and sex, and setting healthy perspectives on maturity.

Hannah Tan, the founder of Miss Teaspoon recognises that providing a safe platform is the solution to the growing issues amongst young girls. Tan explains that the connection between girls of the same age forges strong bonds that set a perfect tone for them to flourish,

“just girls being girls. It’s liberating and empowering!”

The 3 days 2 nights camp is set in the tranquillity of Templer Park Forest Reserve, Rawang. Little Women encourages full immersion into nature and infuses Malaysian culture in activities that range from wearing sarongs, dance, gamelan and mandi bunga.

Open to girls’ ages 11 years – 15 years, the camp will run from June 1 – June 3 2015.

Laughter, sweat, creativity, reflection, and new friendships all come together for those who are willing to discover more about themselves and their unique contributions to the world.

The Value of Initiative

posted 5 Mar 2015, 21:08 by Hannah Tsp

How to be efficient in school, among friends  and at home?

The value of perseverance, innovation, creativity is always on our radar for success. One that should definitely top the list is :The Value of Initiative.

The initiative to make your bed.
The initiative to voice your opinion.
The initiative to make mistakes.
The initiative to make friends.
The initiative to apologize.
The initiative to do good.
The initiative to learn.

Having the value of initiative makes YOU the person that people say,
"hey I know I can always count on her to get the job done".

It makes you more efficient as it prepares a sense of readiness to perform. It makes you stand out from the typical crowd that always says "you go first". It makes you go head on and not wait until opportunities pass.

So, take initiative on the simplest things and watch how it improves your daily life and work.

Looking Back at Twenty Fourteen

What is the most wonderful time of the year? Christmas & shopping? Holidays & travels? Food!

As we join in the cosy soiree of fun, laughter & friends, we'd also like to unwind, reflect and be grateful for the beautiful ups & downs this year has brought us.
To date, Miss Teaspoon has had more than 150 students, currently resident at 6 schools,  popped more than 300 balloons, & collected unnumbered hugs, laughter and screams!

We can't measure how tall we've grown, but we know our hearts are bigger, our decisions wiser, our feet stronger to walk on further & our arms always full with love.

Thank you or being part of Miss Teaspoon!

What's Not Okay?

posted 17 Sep 2014, 01:33 by Hannah Tsp   [ updated 17 Sep 2014, 01:33 ]

What's not okay? Bullying. Bullying has many forms ranging from physical, verbal, social and even cyber bullying.

It is NOT OKAY to be a victim of bullying.

You are not made of those words that hurt you. Or that number on that scale. Or the expectations you feel you will never meet. Whatever you are made of, that's what makes you unique. A lovely and complex soul. A fascinating combination of thoughts, ideas, feelings, and emotions. Look past the mirror and only then you will see yourself as you truly are. Beautiful.

So smile and don't forget to love yourself girls! We're always here for you.
